the
wonder of His mercy
falls in drops brilliant
in colors of rainbows
around the bed of the
precious one breathing his last breath on earth
and taking his first breath in heaven
angels rejoicing
even as tears fall on his body
the wonder of His mercy
shouts from earth to heaven
from heaven to earth
falling in drops of grace
as 4 siblings stand together
singing It Is Well for their grandpa
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops of blue as the newborn
takes his first breath
of life
falls in drops golden
as his parents hear
his first cry
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops of many colors
over the precious little boy
who took his first breath of life
as he holds his newborn brother
for the first time
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops of purple vibrant
around the beautiful little girl
who took her first breath of life
as bravely she walks into
1st grade
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops of vivid red
around the precious little boy
who took his first breath of life
just over 4 years ago
as he excitedly walks into
his last year of preschool
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops of pink and yellow
around the beautiful little girl
who took her first breath of life
2 1/2 years ago
as she laughs and runs
and hugs her mommy
and plays with her puppy
drops of mercy fall unceasingly
on a ground dry and thirsty
grace unimaginable
flows from a cross
on a hill
covering all
who open
hearts and hands
so mercy can flow
through to a world
so desperate for mercy
life so very precious
is seen in eyes haunted
by tragedy of war
of hunger
of slavery
of persecution
of abandonment
each life
each heart
deserves the wonder of His mercy
each baby
each child
deserves drops of mercy
falling like the rain
so easy to remain comfortable
to rest in the thought "what can I do anyway"
the lives
the hearts
described above
are dear to my heart -
my family
my circle
yet I am called to show mercy
to live in grace
to a world
larger than my own
for we are all circles of life
connected to other circles of life
all embraced by the Giver of life
the wonder of His mercy
falls in drops too numerous to count
falls as rain pouring down in the desert
WE ARE HIS DROPS OF MERCY
here I am
send me
