watching from his cloud
in heaven
I know he
smiled
laughed
encouraged
when one was nervous
he would simply say
"this is a party
not a performance"
when tears fell
he reached down
he hugged
he wiped them away
as he did when they were little
when laughter burst out
his cloud must have shaken as he
laughed right along
when stories were told about
too much ice cream
sharp scissors in little hands
art projects everywhere
walks around the mall
swings broken
slides piled
from oldest
to youngest
he must have smiled at memories sweet
for sharing Jesus
for loving the least
for going the extra mile
for accepting all
for loving all
he must have been bursting with joy
as his grandchildren saw who he was
as they sang It is Well
as they read words from the Bible
as they played Amazing Grace
as they sang and played drums
on 10,000 Reasons
how he must have
felt pride and joy in all his grandchildren
thank you for leading us in worship
for living Grandpa's legacy
for representing Grandma
and all us parents
in such a beautiful
loving way...
Grandpa lives on in each of you
"and on that day when my strength is failing
the end draws near and my time has come
still my soul will sing Your praise unending
10,000 years and then forevermore!"
