once there was a little baby girl
she was born 4 years ago today
she was perfect in every way
her name was autumn
autumn lynn elgersma
her mommy and daddy loved her
so very much
they loved her cute nose
her tiny fingers
her tiny toes
they loved everything about her
she had a big sister named faith
faith loved autumn with all her heart
she loved to hold autumn
she loved to smile at autumn
she loved autumn
autumn also had a big brother
his name was jared
jared loved autumn very much, too
he loved to hold her
he loved to just look at her
this daddy and mommy and sister and brother
were all so very happy
days and weeks and months went by
autumn started to look at people
she started to smile
which made everyone around her smile
soon she learned how to sit up
she learned how to laugh
which made everyone around her laugh
she loved to play with faith and jared
her mommy and daddy told her that Jesus loves her
she was like a little rainbow
who danced in the rain
who sparkled in the sun
her grandpas and grandmas and uncles and aunts
and all her cousins loved her very much
when autumn turned 1 year old
there was a big party
with a big cake
autumn loved the cake
and everybody loved autumn
autumn kept growing
she learned how to walk and run
and climb and jump
autumn loved to play
she played with her daddy
she played with her mommy
she played with faith
she played with jared
she played with everyone
autumn loved to swing on swings
she loved to kiss her daddy
she loved to kiss her mommy
she liked to ride on her daddy's shoulders
soon autumn turned 2 years old
she had a big party
with a big cake
and presents
she was so excited
she ran and danced and laughed
everyone loved to watch autumn
autumn kept growing up
she loved to be silly
she loved to make faces
she loved to laugh with faith and jared
she loved the color purple
autumn loved to go to church
she loved to learn about Jesus
she loved to play and run and dance
at church
autumn loved Sundays
she loved Jesus and knew that Jesus loved her
autumn was the sunshine
in her mommy's and daddy's lives
she danced and twirled
she sang and laughed
soon autumn turned 3 years old
she had a big dora party
because autumn
loved dora
it was a wonderful party
everyone loved autumn so very much
nobody knew that autumn's next
birthday party would be in heaven with Jesus
today is that day...
today her mommy and daddy and faith and jared
are celebrating autumn's life
by asking those who loved autumn
to do special things for
other people
purple cupcakes
flowers given
meals paid for
school supplies
cookies baked
hugs given
everyone is being the touch of Jesus
to celebrate autumn
who celebrates with Jesus
precious autumn dances with angels
gets hugs from Jesus
and gives Him hugs
as she dances today
drops of grace are falling
like the rain
her mommy and daddy and faith and jared are missing her so much
tears and laughter collide
resulting in prisms of light
rainbows dancing
flung across time
one day they will dance with autumn
as they all dance together
with Jesus
