what if?

   Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all          circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong            to Christ Jesus.

               1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

                                                       what if?
                                             what if, My child?
                                    what if every morning as you wake,
                            every evening before you sleep,
                   and every moment in between,
                            you. gave. thanks.

                     you looked around at the simple as well as
                                                     the profound.
                                                                     rollie pollies.
                                      dandelion fluff.
                                                    children laughing.
                         aging parents smiling.
                                             wind bending palm trees low.
                 flowers painted colors vibrant.
                                                    butterflies exquisite.
                      bubbles floating.
                                          raindrops on little umbrellas.

                      and the list never ends,
                        but only if you look.
                           
                            My child, 
                                My gifts are
                                    everywhere.
                                and if you breathe thanks
                                    and live thanks
                                         in all circumstances
                                         I promise you, My beloved,
                                  the result will be joy.
                             joy unspeakable!
                         even in the times of loss
                                 and heartbreak
                                         and broken dreams.
                                               even then joy will be the
                                            underlying current,
                                        running from Me to you.

                                 living thanks is a form of prayer and
                           constant communication with Me
                       as you journey through life will change you.
                          it will soften you.
                             it will slow you down.
                                it will give you new eyes to see.
                                   it will put things in perspective.
                                      it will draw you closer to
                                                 My heart.
