come
"come to Me, all of you who are
weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest"
Matthew 11:28
such a small word...come.
yet perhaps one of the most
significant in the Bible
a word with
such welcome
such comfort
such beauty
for does not Jesus hold
out nail pierced hands
and say come?
"the Spirit and the bride say
'Come' let anyone who hears this
say 'Come' let anyone who is thirsty
come. let anyone who desires drink
freely from the water of life"
Rev. 22:17
and who in this world today
does not need an invitation
to rest
to drink
to drink freely
from the water of life?
and as we rest in the arms of Jesus,
drinking in the beauty
the rapture
the radiance
of who He is
of what He has
done for us,
the cares and weight
of this world will slowly
fade away.
for there is no sickness
no political race
no financial burden
no broken heart
no broken home
no broken anything
that the whisper of Jesus
cannot overcome.
and still today He says "come"
turn your eyes upon Jesus
look full in His wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow
strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace
