singing since the
morning stars first sang
still sings.
with each new year a piece of
manuscript paper so fresh lies
waiting for notes and rests
and chords and rhythm
and dynamics and all
that which comes to
life in a composition.
and the beauty of
manuscript paper is this:
the composer is literally touching
the paper with hands and fingers
holding the pen
for manuscript means
written by hand.
and how beautiful is that?
the Creator of the universe
knows me and loves me enough
to be intimately involved in each
detail so intricate of my life song.
and your life song.
and this heart can barely take it in.
and perhaps equally stunning is this:
although the Master Composer knows
each minute aspect and element of
my life song and your life song,
(for how can the Composer be caught
off guard by His own composition?)
still He hands us the pen,
for the composition is,
by its very nature, interactive.
and no matter where my
wandering hand and heart
allow my life song to go,
still He loves me.
still His grace flows like a river
over each note of my life song.
and your life song.
yet this heart can become fearful.
fearful of another note played wrong.
fearful of singing in the wrong key.
just fearful.
"Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."
Psalm 27:14
and He says to be brave.
to be courageous.
to live in sweet abandonment
with no fear.
to be still and listen. always listen.
to wait patiently. with no fear.
for never will the Composer leave you to
sing alone.
"...be strong and courageous! Do not be
afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your
God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9
