listen to the silence

                           listen to the silence
                     even when doubt and fear shout
                        
                           listen to the silence
                                   even when talking seems
                                             the logical thing to do

                                       "...be still before the Lord
                                              and wait patiently
                                                  for Him..."

                                           silence can threaten
                                       the mind ever planning
                                   the heart ever anxious
                               the body ever ready
                            for in silence one is forced 
                                  to listen
                                  to be quiet
                                  to give up control
                                        or the semblance thereof 

                                      when dreams appear to die
                                             wait in the stillness
                                         listen to the silence
                                     for in the stillness
                                 and silence
                             Abba will speak
                                He speaks always
                                     yet ears will not hear
                                          if surrounded by noise
                                              incessant 

                                             be still
                                         quiet the heart
                                    allow the body tense
                                the mind tangled
                            to sink into His arms
                        like a rag doll sinks into the arms of
                     her little girl
                     
                     give that which seems impossible
                          into the arms of the One
                          with whom all things are possible

                      and in that silence give thanks
                            for all He has already done
                            for what He is now doing
                            for what He will do

                                as the spirit waits in silence
                            longing for nothing more than to
                        see His glory anew
                     peace in knowing He is enough
                  will overflow from the heart 
                       wrapped in joy unextinguishable
