"...not that I was ever in need,
for I have learned to be content with
whatever I have...I know how to live on
almost nothing or with everything...
I have learned the secret of living
in every situation, whether it
is with a full stomach or empty,
with plenty or little...
for I can do everything through
Christ who gives me strength"
Philippians 4:11-13
to be content no matter what...
no matter the storm swirling
no matter the pain physical
no matter the heartache
no matter where
no matter when
no matter why
to be satisfied
to rest in peace
to surrender all
perhaps surrender is the key
for if one truly surrenders all
nothing is left to cause discontent
if all is His in the first place
no one or no thing can
possibly take it away
if all comes from His hand
no reason exists to be
dissatisfied
for He knows each need
each longing
each desire
of each heart
He hears each prayer
He answers each prayer
not always with the answer desired
yet always with answers perfect
wrapped in love passionate
tied with promises of
faithfulness
oh how this heart needs to be
reminded
so easy to look around
so easy to compare
so easy to strive
for more and more and more
a spirit striving is not content
just as a spirit content is not striving
for if He is honestly enough
contentment permeates
not that all is as wanted
or even needed
yet still He is enough
so many suffering
yet if He is enough in wellness
and wealth
is He not also enough in sickness
and need?
hearts breaking
doors closed
yet if He is enough in
the joyful
the door open
is He not enough in the other?
this heart must remember.
this heart must be wrapped in His promises
tied with faithfulness the ribbon
woven with love so priceless
and hands raised open and empty
are able to receive blessings
He pours down
