Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart's
desires.
Psalm 37:4
delight = great pleasure.
taking delight in the Lord
involves bending and leaning
toward Him and into Him. always.
enjoying being in His presence
because of love. pure love.
and when the heart so in love dares
to be vulnerable with Him,
an intimacy and a longing for even
more of Him results and the
heart beats faster
simply at the thought
of being in His presence.
(and to think:
this is but a fraction of the
delight our Abba feels when we
cry out to Him!
the Creator and Sustainer of all
longs for intimacy with you
and with me!
and whether the cry is
one of joy or sadness or
anger or any emotion possible,
His response never varies.
His. arms. are. open.)
so when we take delight in Him,
we will be given our hearts' desires.
the psalmist leaves it rather
wide open, for the
definition of 'desires'
is as limitless as there
are hearts able to desire.
as for my heart, I am discovering
that when the desire of my heart,
the truest, deepest longing,
is found in more of Him, the
fulfillment of the desire comes
full circle.
for if my delight is Him,
the fulfillment is Him.
and what more could I ask for
than more
of
Him.
"The one thing I ask of the Lord -
the thing I seek most -
is to live in the house of the Lord all the
days of my life,
delighting in the Lord's perfections
and meditating in his temple."
Psalm 27:4
