songs bring hope when
hope seems hard to find.
songs bring peace when
peace seems elusive.
songs bring joy when
life seems joyless.
songs bring light when
all
seems
dark.
Even though the fig trees have no
blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my
salvation!
The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread on the heights.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
and is this not a song?
is not every promise a song?
and is not even that which hurts
oh so deeply
a song in the making?
when the heart is broken
when all seems lost
when prayers seem
to hit the ceiling
and you fear He
might not be
listening because
you hear nothing
but silence,
is singing often
the last thing the heart
feels like doing?
oh but this is the time to sing!
Abba is gently brushing
designs of vivid colors in
stark contrast to the dark
dark and painful places
of the heart...
and in that process a
song of worship
is born.
