far too short
her life just
beginning
her future
bright as her eyes
a world viewed
through purple tinted glasses
for is that not how
those who are 3
should live?
carefree
joyfilled
laughing
dancing
running
spinning
twirling
this was Autumn
this IS Autumn
multiplied by tens of thousands
as she lives in the place of perfection perfected
heaven
she sees what
those of us left behind
can only imagine
she lives in joy unending
never a tear
never a fear
for she sits with the One
who promised no more tears
no more darkness
no more scary things
and this knowledge certain
gives hope for her family
gives the ability to face
each new day without
Autumn in their
arms
yet hearts ache
tears flow
questions flung toward
heaven
no answer possibly truly
satisfying to her mommy and daddy
and sister and brother and grandpas
and grandmas and uncles and aunts
and friends the world over
even those who like me
never met Autumn
Autumn has touched
countless lives
in her 3 years of life
she has taught all of us
how to love better
how to give better
how to thank better
and for that, Autumn,
I thank you
and I thank
your family
for so selflessly
sharing
you
with
all of us
