"a thrill of hope
a weary world rejoices
for yonder breaks a new
and glorious morn"
weary.
many words
describe this world,
but perhaps 'weary' best
encapsulates planet earth today.
oh the complexities of this world,
spinning in a galaxy among stars
too numerous to be numbered,
yet placed and named and known
individually by the Creator,
cannot be defined in
any single term,
yet weary seems
to fit.
and into the dark of night
in this world so weary, so lost,
heaven bent low as a baby was born.
and with that baby so human yet so divine
came
hope.
we are a little short on today?
fear and division and anger and
pride and greed and pure evil such
as children trafficked and cities
obliterated by war and families
running
for
their
lives
and where is hope?
hope is closer than
your next breath and nearer
than your next heartbeat and hope never
fails
because hope is Jesus
and Jesus cannot fail.
so if we are to share hope
we must share Jesus.
and if we are to share Jesus
we must do more than talk.
and that is not to discount
the power of words.
yet words alone mean little
to the homeless one so cold, so hungry.
words alone cannot give the refugee
a home or rescue the one in slavery.
true hope lives in word and action.
and hope can also seem far away
to the one not homeless or cold
or hungry or a refugee or in slavery,
for hopelessness has no prerequisites.
and sometimes lack of hope can be
hidden beneath masks of 'all is well'
when the heart under the mask is
slowly
dying
with no hope.
for that heart so beautiful,
hope is here!
hope is Jesus!
hope is in the manger
which would become
a cross.
so never give up, hurting heart!
whether the hopelessness results
from loss of loved one or job or home
or any loss no matter the size,
or if your unique and priceless dna
is simply wired with that tendency for
depression and/or anxiety,
you are not alone.
hope has a name
and His name is Jesus.
and Jesus uses those who
know Him and understand the pain
to be His love
and
hope
made
touchable.
What words of hope!
