to love the unlovable.
(is there such a person?)
to touch the untouchable.
(who could be untouchable?)
to embrace the unembraceable.
(did Jesus find anyone fitting
this description?)
"Tax collectors and other notorious
sinners often came to listen to Jesus
teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers
of religious law complain that he was
associating with such sinful people -
even eating with them!"
Luke 15:1-2
if grace is freely receiving
what I do not deserve,
what is ungrace?
is it not freely receiving
what I do not deserve?
that would be impossible,
for then grace itself
would not exist!
or is it when grace
is given to me freely
and I choose to not give
that same grace
freely to others?
the grace which flows
from the cross of Jesus
covers
every
single
person.
all for love.
and that love is what
prompted
grace
to
flow.
Jesus lived with compassion
and tenderness and kindness
and mercy and love and grace.
He went out of His way to find
those rejected by society.
His harshest words were
aimed at those doing the rejecting.
the religious leaders.
those in authority.
those who chose
legalism
over
grace.
those for whom
rules
and
laws
and
traditions
were more important than
the broken and hurting
lives surrounding them.
judging rather than
embracing.
arguing the fine print
rather than finding the
common bond...Jesus.
alienating those who
view life through a
different lens rather than
drawing them close.
what is it they say?
actions speak louder than words.
and much of what Jesus stood against
when He walked our ground
is just as prevalent,
if not more so, today.
and if we (including me) are
willing to be honest,
do we really care?
what is more important
to the church around the world...
rules and traditions and being right
or loving and living grace?
what would our world look like if we...
those who love and follow Jesus...
were to set aside that
incessant
need
to be right?
I have no answers to these hard questions.
I simply see so much anger and hostility
and judging
and I believe
heaven's tears
fall.
and I must be the
first to get on my knees
and ask Him to
change. my. heart.
Perfect. Thank you.
